They went public!
Public companies have to follow much more stringent reporting requirements. They need to publicly release updates on their balance sheets, profits, cash flows, and more every single quarter, so that us public investors can make informed decisions about whether we want to own a share of their company. The quarterly reports are called “Earnings Reports”, and they start to come out a few weeks after the end of the quarter (every three months). That period is called “earnings season”. Us finance dorks get really excited.
